Last Wednesday, a handful of our students went on an exploratory trip to check out some colleges nearby. Our awesome Gear Up Coordinator, Carrie Barnes, organized the whole thing. They spent the day touring Evergreen State College and Saint Martin's University in Olympia. We hope these opportunities inspire our students as they make exciting decisions about the next leg of their academic journeys.

We're pretty proud of our student-athletes as they rise up to take on the advancing competition this week. Here's how you can join us!

Yesterday, our IHS staff was pleasantly surprised with pizza in the staff room, thanks to Pacific Bible Church. We didn't realize it was National Pizza Day, but they did and treated us to a thoughtful surprise. A big thank you to Pacific Bible Church for the delicious treat!

Now to recognize a couple of our students:
Congratulations to Mikaila Warfield as she was just named WIAA Athlete of the Week.
These student-athletes are selected for outstanding performances and impactful contributions in their communities and must be in good academic standings at their schools.
In Ilwaco High School's first round district game on Saturday, freshman Mikaila Warfield led Ilwaco in scoring with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 8 steals helping them to a 58-41 win over Onalaska. The week before, Warfield put up 40 points and 25 rebounds against league rival Chief Leschi.
Congratulations Mikaila! We are proud of you!
Congratulations to Josh Wall for being named NMA's 2023 Rider of the Year! Josh was selected for setting a standard of outstanding sportsmanship and professionalism and for his dedication to supporting and encouraging those around him. We are proud of you, Josh!
Do you know a student at IHS who deserves to be recognized for their accomplishments outside of school? We want to know! Please help us join in celebrating them. You can send your nominations to sheena.burke@oceanbeachschools.org

We just got word: Congratulations to Rachel Lake, our outstanding performing arts teacher, on her Teacher of the Year nomination! Let's send her our best wishes as she competes for the regional title. Mrs. Lake's dedication and passion make her a true standout, deserving of national recognition.

Thanks to a grant to our Pacific County Health Department, we're using this program to build strong peer networks for positive change in our community. Sources of Strength focuses on promoting wellbeing, seeking help when needed, building resilience, healthy coping, and fostering belonging. We're grateful to the team at Adrift Hospitality for providing the perfect space for this adventure.
