The Ocean Beach School District has been awarded an additional $4,326,000 from the legislatively funded Seismic Safe Schools Program to support moving forward with plans for a new state-funded 6-12 facility ($4,026,000) and with making decisions regarding seismic and tsunami safety at the elementary schools ($300,000).
To date the district has received $7,299,750 from the Seismic Safe Schools Program for the new state-funded 6-12 school. These funds support the design and development of the 6-12 school including all cost estimation, engineering, and design.
To date the district has received $510,00 for the investigation of options for seismic and tsunami safety at the elementary schools. OSPI awarded us $300,000 on October 2nd to continue the work started with our earlier $210,000 FEMA grant ($161,000 from FEMA with local match of $25,000 from OSPI Seismic Safe Schools and $25,000 from the Washington Department of Emergency Management).
