Early Childhood Education & Assistance Program
ESD 112 in partnership with Ocean Beach School District provides comprehensive preschool services through the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP). This Washington State funded program provides free services and support to eligible children and their families. The State supports this program to help ensure that all Washington children who enter kindergarten are ready to succeed. Families who participate receive the preschool program, family support and parent training, as well as child health coordination and nutrition information.
Children who turn 4 on or before August 31 are eligible to be served in this program. Currently there are two classes available; one of 12 students who will go to Long Beach Elementary and another of 15 students who will go to Ocean Park Elementary. Since the Fall of 2008 the classrooms have been housed in the newly constructed Ocean Beach Early Childhood Center.
Children attend classes for a minimum of two full days per week. They travel to and from school on Ocean Beach District busses and free breakfasts and lunches are provided. ECEAP operates on the Ocean Beach School District calendar with exceptions at the beginning and the end of the school year. Generally the school year for these young students begins about two weeks after the beginning of the regular school year and finishes two weeks prior to the close of the regular school year.
Curriculum components for ECEAP focus on the development of gross motor, fine motor, language, mathematics, social and health/nutrition skills. The program provides comprehensive services that include frequent parent contact and support.
Parents interested in enrolling their children may call the ECEAP office at 360-642-4089.
