A picture of Dylan in rememberance

Our darling Dylan passed away in 2020, after a 20-month battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DPIG), an incurable cancer that primarily affects young children.  She captured the hearts of everyone at our school and within the peninsula communities.  We admired her strength and positive attitude in her fight against this devastating illness. Dylan was a sweet, spunky child who loved unicorns, baking, music, family and friends, and the colors pink and purple. Dylan is loved by many and is truly missed.

    Dylan's Garden

In remembrance of Dylan and her love for flowers, school staff and community members helped to create a garden in front of Long Beach Elementary in her honor.  Thank you to OBSD for allowing us to build the garden. Thank you to Principal, Annie Fletcher, for supplying plants and making Dylan's Garden sign, and to Karen Brownlee for donating the tiles.  Thank you to Basket Case Greenhouse for their soil donation, and to many others who donated plants and sweat equity.  Thank you to staff and community members who continue to give of their time to keep the garden maintained and watered.  Plant donations are gladly accepted through Basket Case Greenhouse; donations of painted rocks are welcome, as well as, helping to keep the garden beautiful.
